sliding into home

last night it was just pete and i so we had sliders and fries... every restaurant now a days has some form of a slider.. and grocery stores even sell slider buns.. they are fun you can top them with just about anything..

sliders (6 mini burgers)

1 1/2 lb ground hamburger 85/15 (or ground turkey)
splash or 2 of worcestershire sauce
salt and pepper to taste
smokey thousand island (recipe to follow)
6-12 spicy pickle chips (if you can't find them in your grocery store put  a 1/2 cup of  bread and butter pickles with the juice in a mason jar and add a tablespoon of dried red chili flakes, shake and refridgerate for about 2 hours before serving)
olive oil
split bun or roll (if your store doesn't have mini buns the brown and serve rolls work well too)

Combine meat, worcestershire sauce and salt and pepper and form into 6 little burgers.  We grilled ours on a charcoal grill but a gas grill works also.  We like ours medium so about 6-8 minutes on each side.  Brush your buns with a little olive oil and grill them also.  Then add the smokey thousand island and a pickle chip and enjoy. We didn't add cheese this time but chipolte cheddar or pepper jack would be great .. just use 1/2 slice per burger.

smokey thousand island

1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons heinz ketchup
1 teaspoon chipolte tobasco
1 teaspoon smokey paprika
1 teaspoon splenda
1 teaspoon pickle juice
1 teaspoon liquid smoke

Mix all ingredients well and refridgerate left overs, goes great on fries.
