slow cooked brisket

ok i am not much of a crock pot food eater (however i have 2 of them why i have no idea ha) and i don't like meat or veggies cooked this way.. and i don't like coffee, or rather i am allergic to it.. but the family said this dish was wonderful.. in the words of pete.. who then quoted guy fierei of diners, drive ins and dives fame.. this dish is "off the hook!" this recipe was inspired by cruising this blog.. who was inspired by this blog..

prep time: 10 minutes
cooking time: 8 hours
servings: 4-6

ingredients:

1 bag frozen pearl onions
1/2 lb. ruttabega chopped
1/2 lb. parsnips
1 pound small carrots, about 2 1/2 inch in length
3 lb. beef brisket, trimmed
salt and pepper to taste
1 6-ounce can of tomato paste (i totally forgot this step :()
1 cup brewed black coffee (since i don't/can't drink it i sent the kids up to 7-11 to get a cup)
2 tblsp. worcestershire sauce
2 tblsp. splenda brown sugar (or regular brown sugar)

season beef with salt and pepper.. place in the bottom of a 6 quart slow cooker all the veggies.. place brisket on top fat side up.. in a small bowl whisk coffee, (tomato paste if you remember), worcestershire sauce and brown sugar. pour over beef and veggies. cover and cook until beef and veggies are fork tender about 8 hours on low.  remove beef and veggies to a platter.. slice meat across the grain serve with veggies and if you want a ladle full of the sauce remaining..
